Quote by Thomas Edison on success

A quote by Thomas Edison on success is the topic of this blog post.

“Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.” Thomas A. Edison

“Anyone who truly wants to succeed will take this quotation by Thomas Edison to heart.  I know I have faced many obstacles in my life but giving up too soon is not the answer in most costs.  Success will not come to you if you do not keep trying. I have found that the key is in understanding that even though you may need to change your game plan that does not mean that you have to change your ultimate goal. I know from my own life that I was very discouraged just over 9 years ago and I was tempted to just give up but I did not give up. Instead I discovered that I was capable of doing many things that I would never have thought possible. Because 9 years ago earning a decent living online was only a dream in my mind. But I persevered and did not give up and now I am living my dream. I still have a long ways to go in order to reach my ultimate goal but I know for sure that giving up is not the answer.” Stan Burman

Quote by Walter Cronkite on freedom

A quote by Walter Cronkite on freedom is the topic of this blog post.

“There is no such thing as a little freedom. Either you are all free, or you are not free.” Walter Cronkite

“I agree completely with this quote by Walter Cronkite as freedom is in essence an all or nothing proposition. My personal opinion is that you can do whatever you want so long as you do not injure anyone else or their property or interfere with their individual rights. Other than that I believe in total freedom and I am shocked and saddened as I look at how much freedom has been lost over the last few decades around the world, particularly in the United States. I remember growing up that I felt much freer than I do now. I was confident that I was as free as anyone could be. I certainly do not feel that way now and that is a sad commentary on the state of the world today. Walter Cronkite must be turning over in his grave right now at the growing loss of freedom in the United States today.” Stan Burman

Quote by Mark Twain on censorship

Quote by Mark Twain on censorship.

A quote by Mark Twain on censorship is the topic of this blog post.

“Censorship is telling a man he can’t have a steak just because a baby can’t chew it.” Mark Twain

“Mark Twain really tells it like it is with this quote. Censorship blocks the free flow of information which is essential for any free society to function. That is why the First Amendment to the United States Constitution guarantees a free press because the founders wisely understand the evils of censorship.  Sadly, even in the United States there are calls to impose censorship to one degree or another. And more extreme examples of censorship still exist in countries around the world like China and North Korea who impose censorship to control the information available to the people living in their countries. Until countries that impose censorship remove it there will be no real progress in those countries.” Stan Burman

George Bernard Shaw quote on censorship

George Bernard Shaw quote on censorship.

A quote by George Bernard Shaw on censorship is the topic of this blog post.

“The first condition of progress is the removal of censorship.” George Bernard Shaw

“Censorship has been used throughout history by dictators and despots to control the masses. George Bernard Shaw is absolutely correct in that if censorship is imposed there can be no progress because the free flow of information is blocked.  That is why the First Amendment to the United States Constitution guarantees a free press. Unfortunately even today there are still countries around the world like China and North Korea who impose censorship to control the information available to the people living in their countries. Until countries that impose censorship remove it there will be no real progress in those countries.” Stan Burman

Quote by Alexander Graham Bell on the importance of focus

Quote by Alexander Graham Bell on focus.

A quote by Alexander Graham Bell on focus  is the topic of this blog post.

“Concentrate all your thoughts upon the work at hand. The sun’s rays do not burn until brought to a focus.” Alexander Graham Bell

“This quote clearly shows the importance of focus. Alexander Graham Bell really knew how to take what many people would think is complicated and get right down to the basics.  This quote is deceptively simple but intelligent people will recognize it for what it really is. A very profound quote that needs to be taken to heart by more people as without focus you will never be able to accomplish what you wish.  With focus you can accomplish most anything. I know from my own life experience that this quote is absolutely true.” Stan Burman

A quote by Mark Twain on perfection is the topic of this blog post.

“Continuous improvement is better than delayed perfection.” Mark Twain

“I agree completely with this quote by Mark Twain as I know from my own personal life experiences that waiting until a situation or anything else in life is “just perfect” is a bad idea.  Once I took this quote to heart and began working as hard as I could towards the goal of continual improvement instead of waiting for “perfection” my life began to change for the better.” Stan Burman

Quote by H. L. Mencken on the true aim of public education

Quote by H. L. Mencken on the true aim of public education.

A quote by H. L. Mencken on the true aim of public education is the topic of this blog post.

“The aim of public education is not to spread enlightenment at all; it is simply to reduce as many individuals as possible to the same safe level, to breed and train a standardized citizenry, to down dissent and originality. That is its aim in the United States, whatever the pretensions of politicians, pedagogues, and other such mountebanks, and that is its aim everywhere else… Their purpose, in brief, is to make docile and patriotic citizens, to pile up majorities, and to make John Doe and Richard Doe as nearly alike, in their everyday reactions and ways of thinking, as possible.” – H. L. Mencken.

“Excellent quote by H. L. Mencken on the true aim of “public education”. He nailed it right on the head! The world needs more individuals like H. L. Mencken that are not afraid to speak the truth.  He was truly one of a kind.” Stan Burman
