Quote by Voltaire on common sense

A quote by Voltaire on common sense is the topic of this blog post.

“Common sense is not so common.” Voltaire

“This quote by Voltaire is really good as it illustrates a timeless truth that anyone who has been out in the world as an adult for any length of time would agree with completely. What the majority of people would consider as common sense is not widely practiced by certain people at the present time in particular a considerable number of bureaucrats and politicians. Everyone makes mistakes but I am confident that is not what Voltaire was referring to. In my opinion he was most likely referring to the bureaucrats, politicians and other individuals of his day who thought very highly of themselves even though they had little if any common sense as anyone who could see clearly would recognize quite easily.” Stan Burman
