Quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson on the power of thoughts

A quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson on the power of thoughts is the topic of this blog post.

“Great men are they who see that spiritual is stronger than any material force – that thoughts rule the world.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

“This quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson is absolutely true as history shows that in the long run the spiritual is the strongest of all forces even though material force may prevail in the short term it cannot prevail in the long term. Thoughts really do rule the world.  Just consider the American Revolution which involved a small group of colonists who decided to declare their independence from Great Britain which at that time pretty much ruled the seas and had a large empire. The British thought that their overwhelming advantage in material force would ensure their victory but they were mistaken. The ideal of liberty and freedom was so powerful among the colonists that they prevailed against all odds and won their independence.  Never underestimate the power of thoughts as they truly do rule the world.  The right thoughts can propel someone to the greatest heights of joy at the same time the wrong thoughts can plunge them into the greatest and deepest valleys of despair.  I have only recently begun to realize in last 5 years or so how much power my thoughts have over my life and I have discovered that the more I master the use of my thoughts to change my life the more I reap the rewards of my efforts.” Stan Burman
