Quote by Aristotle on jealousy and envy.

A quote by Aristotle on envy is the topic of this blog post.

“Jealousy is both reasonable and belongs to reasonable men, while envy is base and belongs to the base, for the one makes himself get good things by jealousy, while the other does not allow his neighbour to have them through envy.” Aristotle

“Absolutely true as jealousy is a common emotion that if used properly can motivate people to improve their life. Envy on the other hand is exactly what Aristotle said it was, a base emotion and people who let envy take root in their heart are not interested in helping themselves or anyone else, they are only interested in preventing anyone else from having anything. Anyone with envy in their heart is not someone I want to associate or do business with. Envy is as different from jealousy as day is to night.  They are not similar they are instead exactly the opposite. Most people who are honest with themselves will have to admit that they have felt jealousy at some point in their lives as it is a very common and very reasonable emotion.” Stan Burman
