Quote by Henry David Thoreau on the power of the mind

A quote by Henry David Thoreau on the power of the mind is the topic of this blog post.

“It is what a man thinks of himself that really determines his fate.” Henry David Thoreau

“Excellent quote by Henry David Thoreau that I know from my own personal experience is true.  Your thoughts really do determine your future. I know this from my own life where my thoughts have helped me to greatly improve my life from just over 6 years ago.  I have learned that if you think positive thoughts regarding yourself than your fate and therefore your future will reflect your positive thoughts.  I have also learned the hard way that if you think negative thoughts regarding yourself than your fate and therefore your future will be completely different and in accordance with your negative thoughts. It really is that simple as any successful person will agree.” Stan Burman

Quote by Henry David Thoreau on individuality

A quote by Henry David Thoreau on individuality is the topic of this blog post.

“If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away.”  Henry David Thoreau

“This excellent quote by Henry David Thoreau is one of his most well known quotes. I really love this quote as Thoreau definitely heard a different drummer than most people. He was a very wise person even though many people back when he was alive and even today think of him as a kook. He was definitely not a kook as he understood that it is only in our differences with other people that we find ourselves. And in finding ourselves we find our strengths. In my opinion slavish conformity with accepted norms is a sure sign of a coward or more likely someone that is not yet in touch with their true self. I know that I myself hear a different drummer than most other people. I say that proudly as many if not most of the exceptional people throughout history have been considered odd by the majority of society at some point in their lives.” Stan Burman
