A quote by George Washington on freedom of speech is the topic of this blog post.

“If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter.” George Washington

“George Washington is absolutely correct as freedom of speech is clearly the most important of all freedoms because without freedom of speech there can be no freedom. The Founding Fathers clearly understood this which is why they put freedom of speech in the First Amendment. Dictators throughout history have always attempted to stifle freedom of speech because they knew that if people feel free to speak their minds without repercussions things might get out of hand and a revolution might start. Sadly free speech in many countries throughout the world is being curtailed even in the United States. Once freedom of speech is gone the rest of the freedoms will also be banned and then what George Washington warned about will come true.” Stan Burman

Richard Bach quote on happiness

“If your happiness depends on what somebody else does, I guess you do have a problem.” Richard Bach

“This is an excellent quote by Richard Bach. It should be self-evident that true happiness comes from within and is not affected by outside events.  People who are truly happy are not affected by the actions of other people or what they think. Instead they are focused on their inner happiness. I am now striving to achieve true happiness by taking this quotation to heart. I know that I still have a ways to go before I reach my goal but I also know that I have come a long way from where I started. And my progress so far is all that matters to me.” Stan Burman

Quote by Alfred A. Montapert on destiny

A quote by Alfred A. Montapert on destiny is the topic of this blog post

“Your life will be no better than the plans you make and the action you take. You are the architect and builder of your own life, fortune, destiny.” Alfred A. Montapert

“You are the captain at the helm of your own life you are the captain of your fate, your destiny. The single most important factor that will determine the course of your life in the long run will be the actions that you take based on the goals and plans that you have made.  Some people might consider this quote frightening but I find it exhilarating as well as liberating as it is positive proof that I am in control of my destiny.” Stan Burman

Quote by Theodore Rubin on achievement

A quote by Theodore Rubin on achievement is the topic of this blog post.

“Happiness does not come from doing easy work but from the afterglow of satisfaction that comes after the achievement of a difficult task that demanded our best.” Theodore Rubin

“I love this quote as I know in my heart that it is absolutely true. My own life experiences have shown me that after I have achieved a difficult I feel both satisfied and happy because I know deep down that I tested my limits and did my best. If you never truly test your limits it makes perfect sense that you will never know what you are truly capable of.” Stan Burman

Quote by Gilbert K. Chesterton on adversity

A quote by Gilbert K. Chesterton on adversity is the topic of this blog post.
“And when it rains on your parade, look up rather than down. Without the rain, there would be no rainbow.” Gilbert K. Chesterton

“This is a very perceptive quote by Gilbert K.  Chesterton. If you wear eyeglasses like I do you might find it hard to look up anytime it is raining. But it cannot be denied that if there is no rain, there is no rainbow. I hate adversity as much as anyone else but I have to admit that if you can work through it a few times it does get easier to deal with and you become both more whole and a much more resilient person.” Stan Burman

Quote by Mark Twain on truth

A quote by Mark Twain on truth is the topic of this blog post.

“If you tell the truth, you don’t have to remember anything.” Mark Twain

“This is an excellent quote by Mark Twain. If there is one thing that anyone who has worked any decent amount of time in the legal profession can tell you is that  you can almost always spot a liar by the way they talk. Their stories are either way too smooth or full of obvious contradictions, and they seem to forget certain things. Mark Twain is right on the money with this comment. Telling the truth is not only the right thing to do but you don’t have to remember anything. If someone is speaking directly and forcefully about something and does not seem in the least bit forgetful they are telling the truth, or at least what they think in their hearts is the truth.” Stan Burman
